This sepia photograph presumably shows Rev John Thain Davidson (1833-1904) who arrived at the Presbyterian Church Colebrook Row in 1862 and was pastor there until 1891. Davidson arrived when a congregation of 30 worshipped in a building with capacity of 750 and he attracted huge audiences to his sermons in the Agricultural Hall. Built in 1834 the Scotch Church River Terrace, later the Scotch Free Church and by 1860 Presbyterian, closed in 1923 and was later demolished.
