  • Scope and Content
2 scrapbook volumes arranged around the book "Walks Through Islington" by Thomas Cromwell published in 1835. The volumes contain a variety of newspaper cuttings, plans, maps, illustrations, etc. These unique items & ephemera seem to have originated at Islington Vestry who advertised the items for sale in The Bookseller in 1876. In 1981 the books resurfaced; the books were bound at Drayton Park Bookbinders in marbled niger ½ binding. Islington Libraries paid £750 to the owner Sam Fogg Rare Books who remembers buying a huge collection of North London local history at an estate auction (Enfield?) mostly of Tottenham which he sold to Bruce Castle Museum (?) Haringey. The 2 volumes cover Preface & Chapters I-IV, but not V & VI so Walks the Fourth & Fifth are missing.
