Scope and ContentThis 1833 meeting at Coldbath Fields (now Mount Pleasant) was called by the National Union of the Working Classes against the 1832 Reform Act. Large numbers of police surrounded 1-2000 protestors gathered and 'used their staves pretty freely.....many heads were broken'. In the ensuing melee, PC Culley was stabbed and killed.
