Scope and ContentNewspaper account of a couple robbed in 'their chariot' near Farthing Pye House between Islington and Marylebone by a mounted highwayman described as 'a Negroe Man'. Joseph Guy, a drummer from Portsmouth Garrison, described as 'a Black man' was apprehended on flimsy evidence and sent to New Prison by Sir John Fielding. He was later convicted of this capital offence.
