One A4 sheet, printed both sides, black on white. Copy of an article in the Winter 2012/13 edition of the Journal of the Islington Archaeology & History Society. Article by Rob Bradford, Secretary of the Joe Meek Society. Gives an overview of the life and work of Joe Meek (1926-1967), a pop music recording innovator who wrote, composed and produced songs and instrumental numbers for a variety of notable artists including Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Tommy Steele and The Tornados. The Tornados instrumental single Telstar reached number one in the UK and USA charts in 1962, inspired by the launch of the first commercial communications satellite to transmit cross-Atlantic phone calls and live television in the same year. He lived, worked and died at 304 Holloway Road, which now bears a black plaque to "The Telstar Man'.
