Scope and ContentA4 sheet, both sides, black on white, with black and white photos. Printout of an article from the Islington Tribune E-edition about the Islington Museum exhibition "Up Against It: Islington 1967" organised to mark 50 years since the passing of the 1967 Sexual Offences Act (on 27th July) that decriminalised sex between men in England (as long as both were over 21 years old, in 'private'), 22 July to 21 October 2017. The exhibition explored the lives of well-known members of the local LGBTQ+ community, including Joe Orton and Kenneth Halliwell (photos of both included in the article) and points out that they both died within two weeks of the passing of the Act, when Orton was working on a script for a film to star The Beatles, called 'Up Against It'. (Also see the Local History Centre's special collection on Joe Orton and Kenneth Halliwell).
