Paul Thurlow was a volunteer on the Islington's Pride LGBTQ+ archives project at the Islington Local History Centre and later became a volunteer with the Islington Local History Centre. He is a long-term resident of Islington and an active member of the LGBTQ+ community having volunteered with many organisations including Gay Switchboard. He also actively participated in many events and activities.

Printout of the written evidence submitted by the National LGB&T Partnership to the inquiry conducted by the Women and Equalities Select Committee of the House of Commons' into Health and social care and LGBT communities in 2018. The LGB&T Partnership is a partnership of 'eleven key LGB&T organisations across England' established to reduce health inequalities and challenge homophobia, biphobia and transphobia within public services. It includes London Friend and Stonewall Housing, both (currently) based in Islington. It summarises the available evidence on a range of health issues and inequalities affecting the LGBTQ+ communities and individuals, with four pages/two sheets of the document being notes and references.
