Paul Thurlow was a volunteer on the Islington's Pride LGBTQ+ archives project at the Islington Local History Centre and later became a volunteer with the Islington Local History Centre. He is a long-term resident of Islington and an active member of the LGBTQ+ community having volunteered with many organisations including Gay Switchboard. He also actively participated in many events and activities.

Printout of a presentation by Dr Justin Varney, then 'Interim Deputy Director of Heath and Wellbeing (Healthy People)' at Public Health England (PSE), downloaded from their website, written sometime in 2016 but un-dated, and downloaded in 2022. The article summarises some of the (then) recent work relating to LGBTQ+ communities and individuals caried out by PSE, relevant data available at the time, and arguments for why promoting their health and wellbeing is important.
