John C. Barnes (1902-?) was Mayor of Islington in 1959-60 and a member of the Labour Party. Born in Holborn, Barnes attended the Old Stanley Central School in St Pancras, and lived in Islington from 1914. They joined the North Islington Labour Party 1918, and joined Islington Borough Council in 1938 as a councillor for Upper Holloway Ward.
