  • Scope and Content
Black, green, pink and pale blue on gold-colour design pin-on enamelled lapel badge, approx. 2.5cm diameter, incorporating "LGSM", Lesbians" "Gay Men", "support the Miners" "1984" and "1985" in the design. This badge was produced by 'Lesbians and Gay Men Support the Miners', a support group set up in 1984 to raise funds to support UK coal miners who were on strike, 1984-5. The badge was produced after the end of the strike to celebrate the work of the organisation, which led to a shift in support towards LGBTQ+ rights in the trade union and labour movements in the UK.
