Paul Thurlow was a volunteer on the Islington's Pride LGBTQ+ archives project at the Islington Local History Centre and later became a volunteer with the Islington Local History Centre. He is a long-term resident of Islington and an active member of the LGBTQ+ community having volunteered with many organisations including Gay Switchboard. He also actively participated in many events and activities.

Approx. A4, magazine pages, multi-coloured with colour photos. A selection of pages from the 5th February 2009 edition of 'Boyz' free magazine relating to the UK's fifth annual LGBT History Month in February 2009. Includes highlights of the month's events; 'gay the gab' article by Ben Summerskill (chief Executive of Stonewall campaigning organisation, on progress on LGBTQ+ rights over the last 20 years; article by Joseph Cattell on Matt Cook and his recently published book "London and the Culture of Homosexuality 1885-1914"; and three short pieces on their 'Homo Heroes' by Peter Tatchell (on US gay activist Harry Hay), Paul Burston (on Derek Jarman) and Johann Hari (on author Andrew Sullivan).
