Front and back pages of an edition of the LGBTQ+ 'Pink Paper' with a front-page article celebrating the entry into law on 30th April of the Equality Act (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2007, which extended the protections against discrimination under the Equality Act 2006 to cover discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, so that it became unlawful in England, Wales and Scotland for companies, organisations, voluntary sector and public services to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation. Similar provisions had already come into effect in Northern Ireland in January 2007. These provisions are now contained in the Equality Act 2010.
