Scope and ContentArticle about the 62.5% rise in homophobic incidents in Islington reported to the the police from 2003 to 2004. Discusses whether this reflects that LGBTQ+ people are more willing to report incidents (with the implication that the number of incidents may not have risen, just the proportion that get reported to the police). Refers to 'Britain's first public gay protest' that took place at Highbury Fields in 1970, organised by the London Gay Liberation Front, with quotes from Jack Gilbert, chair of Islington LGBT Forum, and Mark Goatman, licensee of the LGBTQ+ bar the Edward VI (then in Bromfield Street, but closed in 2011). Printout of a copy of the article from The Guardian website.
