Scope and Content
This section of the Archive provides a wide range of material relating to the activities and services provided by the Bus Co. to the several hundred voluntary organisations in the borough.
The Bus Co. offered access to printing facilities, video equipment, sound recording and equipment such as film projectors, cameras and tape-slide equipment, discos, creche kits, craft kits etc. More important, its approach was to provide training, information leaflets and support for groups to be able to use the facilities independently.
In addition to these core services, the Bus Co. team worked in partnership with local groups to support local community priorities e.g. under fives project work; play and youth projects; community development projects, campaigns and information projects.
The Archive includes extensive examples of printed material produced by local organisations e.g. newsletters, leaflets, publicity materials and silkscreen posters.
The Archive also includes a BBC documentary on the Islington Bus Co., aired in December 1976, called 'A Bus for all Reasons' as part of its 'Look Stranger' documentary series.
Please note that this section only contains material that remained when the Bus Co. closed. More information on its work is contained in the Annual Reports.
