Copy of an internal Greater London Council (GLC) briefing note written by Paul Thurlow (working in the Future of London's Government Research and Consultation Project at GLC) to Ken Livingstone (Leader of the GLC) prior to a speech he was due to give later that day at the London Lesbian and Gay Centre in Clerkenwell. Covers the recent agreement by the Association of London Authorities (ALA) to set up a Gay Working Party to be chaired by Stephen Bubb (a Lambeth Councillor, and one of their representatives at the The Association of London borough Authorities (ALA); the recent agreement by eight Labour-led London borough councils to set up a Joint Committee to carry on some of the work undertaken by the GLC, but which did not encompass the GLC's work to date in relation to lesbians and gay men; and the work of the Future of London's Government Research and Consultation Project in relation to lesbians and gay men. The abolition of the GLC was set to take place on 31st March 1986.
