Scope and Content
Two A4 sheets, printed on one side only, black on white. Photocopy of letter from GMP Publishers Ltd (formerly Gay Men's Press) to Gay Switchboard.
The letter is addressed to 'Dear Gay Switchboard', with the words 'Gay Switchboard written in by hand, suggesting that it was sent to a range of LGBTQ+ organisations at the same time. The letter refers to a set of press cuttings circulated with the letter (presumably items S/PTC/2 to S/PTC/2/6/13 in the collection. It defends the sale of its books in South Africa and suggests that the recent campaign against it distributing its books in South Africa was sparked by a false story given to Capital Gay by a competitor, Brilliance Books, to sabotage it's pending grant application to the Greater London Council (GLC).
