    Paul Thurlow was a volunteer on the Islington's Pride LGBTQ+ archives project at the Islington Local History Centre and later became a volunteer with the Islington Local History Centre. He is a long-term resident of Islington and an active member of the LGBTQ+ community having volunteered with many organisations including Gay Switchboard. He also actively participated in many events and activities.

    Hand written letter on two sides of an A5 sheet of "Chris Smith, M.P." House of Commons headed paper. Letter from Chris Smith, MP to Paul Thurlow, temporary worker at GALOP (Gay London Police Monitoring Group) dated 8th August. Refers to a previous letter from Paul Thurlow requesting the MP's help in securing some "information" held by the Home Office - the exact subject is not stated. Also refers to the Police raid on an LGBTQ+ night at The Bell pub (on 11th March 1984, but the date is not stated in the letter), and that the Police had dropped the charges against the people arrested at the pub that evening.
