Carbon copy of a press statement issued by GALOP (Gay London Police Monitoring Group) on 27th July 1984, prepared by Paul Thurlow, temporary worker at GALOP. The press release related to the arrest of Mike Simpson, a gay man arrested on Highbury Fields in June 1984, charged with "gross indecency with a man unknown", and held for three days after pleading not guilty, until Jeremy Corbyn MP provided surety of £250 and he was released on bail. "The only 'gross indecency' here is that while gay men are being arrested and charged for crimes 'without victims' where the only witnesses are Police officers, the Police fail to protect the black communities in London against racist harassment assault and even murder..."
