Paul Thurlow was a volunteer on the Islington's Pride LGBTQ+ archives project at the Islington Local History Centre and later became a volunteer with the Islington Local History Centre. He is a long-term resident of Islington and an active member of the LGBTQ+ community having volunteered with many organisations including Gay Switchboard. He also actively participated in many events and activities.

Photocopy of article by Peter Tatchell explaining why he would not be seeking selection as the Parliamentary Candidate for Bermondsey Labour Party for the next general election (held on 9th June 1983) after being defeated in the by-election of February 1983 by Simon Hughes, the Liberal Party candidate. He describes the extend to which the press went to dig up information about him (or simply created it) and how "anti-homosexual prejudice" was used by the Labour Party's opponents.
