Scope and Content
Short hand-written note of key events in the saga of Peter Tatchell as the Parliamentary Candidate for Bermondsey Labour Party, from being selected by the local party in November 1981, to defeat in the by-election of February 1983. Initially the national Labour Party's refused to endorse him as the official candidate, on the grounds of his support for "extra-Parliamentary action". Peter Tatchell, despite having been an active member of the London Gay Liberation Front in the early 1970's, refused to answer questions about his sexuality, or declare his sexuality during this period.
