  • Scope and Content
Four pages, A4. The Gay Youth Movement (known as 'GYM'; later the Lesbian and Gay Youth Movement, 'LGYM'), brought together LGBTQ+ young people across the UK: individuals and members of local LGBTQ+ youth groups, such as LGTG. 'Gay Youth' magazine was published from Summer 1981, becoming 'Lesbian and Gay Youth' from issue 14 in January 1985. The last known edition (no. 21) was published in Summer 1987. Numbers 1 (Summer 1981) to 8 (February 1983) are in this collection. This second issue includes references to: a fascist attack on Islington Community Press (which was in the process of publishing the Joint Council for Gay Teenager's publication "Breaking the Silence - Gay Teenagers Speak for Themselves" - also in this collection: S/PTC/2/2/3); Campaign for Homosexual Equality; Greater London Council and London Gay Teenage Group. It includes a list of gay youth groups across the UK and Ireland.
