    Gladys Langford, born Gladys Hilda Mears on 17 April 1980, grew up in Hackney, worked as a school teacher in Hoxton and lived in Highbury. She died peacefully in her sleep in July 1972 in her home in Highbury. The majority of the collection comprises of diaries written by Gladys Langford covering October 1936 to November 1969 (37 notebooks), quotation notebooks (5 notebooks) and Langfordiana notebooks (4 notebooks).
