The letter seeks "..support and commitment in combatting the growing presence of fascism and racism in the gay community. We are becoming increasingly aware of people wearing fascist and Nazi insignia at various lesbian/gay venues, proudly displaying the regalia of the British Movement and the National Front... The Gay Black Group has experienced violence at the hands of fascists both due to racism and because of our sexuality. Please join us in coordination the fight to stamp out these evils... We are open to any suggestions." At that time, the Gay Black Group met at Gay's the Word bookshop in Marchmont Street, Bloomsbury.
