Abstract

The Whittington Hospital was named as having the highest percentage of patients with Covid-19 in the country this week.

NHS figures showed 66 per cent of all the Archway hospital’s patients had tested positive.

The Tribune understands the figures are high because the hospital is relatively small, with fewer beds than most trusts.

Fewer complicated operations are carried out there, meaning fewer beds are taken up for rehabilitation.

Whittington Health chief executive Siobhan Harrington said: “Like the rest of the NHS across London, Whittington Health is experiencing real pressure as a result of a rapid increase in Covid-positive patients.”
