Pupils came to school dressed as their favourite characters for World Book Day.
Children at Copenhagen Primary School, off Caledonian Road, got creative with their costumes on Tuesday, after original plans to celebrate World Book Day last Thursday were thwarted by the snow.
Those crowned as “best dressed” bagged a prize of Roald Dahl books and other children’s favourites.
Winners included Dalani Telfer O’Marde, in Year 2, who dressed up as Black Panther, and Avril Lahorm, in Year 4, who came as Willy Wonka.
Avril said: “I played Willy Wonka in my drama class and it was really fun so I dressed up as him today.”
Head Amardeep Panesar, who dressed up as Princess Jasmine from Aladdin, said: “It was difficult choosing the winners. Everyone has made a huge effort. It’s important to promote reading and it’s exciting for the kids to dress up. It’s about having an understanding that having imagination and creativity is so important.”
