Arsenal captain Alex Scott joined sports presenter Gabby Logan at a primary school for a new drive to get children active.
The “Super Movers” initiative is a partnership between the Premier League and the BBC aimed at helping teachers inspire pupils to do sporty activities.
The famous faces were at Ashmount Primary in Whitehall Park on Tuesday to encourage the pupils, with a camera crew from BBC Breakfast in tow. Schools will get video clips featuring well-known sports stars to show to students as part of their lessons.
Deputy headteacher Lucy Walker-Collins said: “The kids enjoyed it because they are used to being told in class to sit down and sit still. The idea is to get up, jump up and down, and touch their toes in between lessons so they found that amazingly novel. It created a real buzz, despite being so early for a January morning.”
She added: “The short clips for teachers to use in class are a really useful resource. Kids can’t concentrate on learning if their body isn’t active.”
