Abstract

The legendary Arsenal team that nicked the league title against Liverpool in 1989 with the last kick of the season were reunited at Holloway Odeon on Wednesday night for a world film premiere.

Tony Adams, Steve Bould, Alan Smith, David O’Leary, Paul Davis, Perry Groves, Lee Dixon and Michael Thomas – who scored the crucial goal – were among a stellar cast signing autographs for fans in Tufnell Park Road.

The film, 89, tells one of the greatest stories in the history of world football when Arsenal travelled to an imperious Liverpool for the final match of the season, needing a 2-0 win to secure the title. Michael Thomas scored in the 93rd minute in a moment that is forever etched in the minds of Gunners fans.

Former manager George Graham, goalkeeper David Seaman and striker-turned-pundit Ian Wright were also on the red carpet.
