Abstract

A charity supporting victims of domestic violence has received a boost of almost £300,000 from the Big Lottery Fund.

Islington-based Solace Women’s Aid was given the cash for a project supporting women aged 55-plus who are survivors of domestic or sexual violence, many of whom are disabled or have mental health issues.

It provides one-to-one practical and emotional support to increase health, confidence, resilience and independent living skills.

The project signposts women to other services and raises awareness of domestic violence issues among health practitioners and community groups.
