Abstract

A man from Canonbury has been jailed for his part in a “meticulously planned operation” to import heroin with a street value of £10million into Britain. Yasar Ozekmecki, 26, of Cleveland Road, was jailed for 10 years and eight months at Manchester Crown Court last week. He was arrested when officers found two sacks and a sports bag containing more than 35.5 kilos of heroin in the black hackney cab he was travelling in last June. Ozekmecki was one of several drivers who picked up packages of heroin from a lorry at a motorway service station on the M6.
