Police responding to reports of a fight at a Farringdon nightclub said they were confronted by a crowd of more than 100 people who threw bottles at officers.
The Met want the licence of V Club, in Farringdon Road, reviewed after a fight broke out inside the venue and spilled out into the street earlier this month.
Police reports, made public on a Camden Council website this week before a hearing on Tuesday, state “this incident was so serious that we are lucky the injuries were not more severe, possibly resulting in a fatality.”
Camden police licensing officer PC Christopher Malone said management had not adequately assessed the risk attached to the event on July 1, organised by an external music promoter. He added that “the venue seem to have done the majority of things right” but asked for opening hours to be cut back to 2am.
V Club had not responded to requests to comment last night (Thursday).
