Abstract

A youth football team has received a welcome boost after Angel Central announced a sponsorship deal.

The shopping centre has chosen to support Barnsbury-based Isledon Wolves FC in a bid to get more children into sport.

The financial support will improve the players’ access to local training facilities, provide branding for football kits and allow for the construction of the team’s first website, raising the club’s profile.

It will also help the club increase its membership and access to winter training facilities.

Lynne Glover, Angel Central centre manager, said: “We love being involved in the community and nothing brings people together like football. We wanted to do something that would make a real difference to the children’s lives and the work [club secretary] Philip Clothier and the team at Isledon Wolves does makes them the perfect choice for us to work with.”

Mr Clothier said: “I couldn’t have thought of a more suitable sponsor for our team. The sponsorship will make big difference to not only the children’s output but help take Isledon Wolves to the next level. We all live in the N1 area and frequently visit Angel Central so it’s fantastic to have them on the team.”

In recent times, players from the club have gone on to join West Ham, Brentford, Dagenham and Redbridge and Fulham.

Angel Central have also announced their community partnership with Sadler’s Wells.

The sponsorship will support the venue’s Get into Dance project, which is designed to reach new audiences in Islington.

Ms Glover said: “We believe that everyone in our community should have access to the joy of live performance.

“We are delighted to sponsor Get into Dance and help Sadler’s Wells fulfil its promise to engage with people who are unfamiliar with dance and who may not have visited the theatre before.”
