Abstract
An elderly brother and sister were left “devastated” after their life savings were stolen in a distraction burglary.
The pair, in their 80s, let two men pretending to be from the gas board into their ground-floor flat in Hillrise Mansions, Crouch Hill, at about 1pm last Thursday.
They searched the flat and found their savings of £20,000, stored in a box hidden at the bottom of a wardrobe. They made their excuses and left.
DC Joe Marston of Islington CID said: “This was a despicable crime against vulnerable elderly siblings who trusted that these men needed to check their boiler. They are devastated.”
The suspects are described white, one 5ft 6ins tall, wearing a short-sleeved green top and black gloves.
