A man has been charged in connection with a suspected burglary at an Upper Street vicarage last week.
James Casey, 39, of no fixed abode, appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with burglary. He was remanded in custody and will next appear at Blackfriars Crown Court on June 27.
The Reverend Simon Harvey, of St Mary’s Church, last week told the Tribune of his heartbreak after realising rings that belonged to his wife Jennifer – who died just nine weeks ago – had gone missing from their bedroom in the vicarage last Wednesday.
Ms Harvey, who died in March aged 52 after a short illness, was a committed member of the Labour Party and supporter of the trade union movement.
Her funeral in April was attended by more than 500 people.
