A lorry driver accused of killing an Islington cyclist close to her workplace has denied causing death by careless driving.
Philip Beadle is accused of knocking down 32-year-old physiotherapist Esther Hartsilver in May last year during rush-hour.
The incident happened as Ms Hartsilver was on her way to work at King’s College Hospital in Denmark Hill, southeast London. She was taken into the hospital, around 100 metres from the scene, in an ambulance but died of her injuries later that afternoon.
Ms Hartsilver had been working as a pelvic health specialist at the hospital for almost a year. She previously worked at Guys and St Thomas’ hospital, Chelsea and Westminster hospital and The Portland Hospital, having studied at the University of Manchester.
Mr Beadle, 47, of Colchester, Essex, denied causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving when he appeared at Inner London Crown Court last Wednesday.
