Abstract

A 45-year-old man from Holloway died after a bout of drink and drug misuse, despite efforts by his friends to save him.

Michael Gleeson, a printer of Hilldrop Road, had been visiting a friend at nearby Norman House for ex-offenders on September 10 last year, when he keeled over and stopped breathing, St Pancras Coroner’s Court heard on Wednesday.

His friends tried CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and an ambulance was called but Mr Gleeson was declared dead just before 4pm.

A post-mortem found he died from alcohol and heroin intoxication, which aggravated an underlying heart problem. Assistant coroner Dr Richard Brittain concluded that he suffered an accidental death.
