Abstract

RESIDENTS and community groups are being invited to Islington’s Crime and Safety Summit next month.

The event on March 5 will allow people to have their say on how the council and police tackle youth violence and knife crime in the borough, and how they can help to prevent crime.

Speakers will include Roz Miller, chairwoman of the Safer Neighbourhood Board, Councillor Paul Convery, the Town Hall’s community safety chief, and Borough Commander Catherine Roper.

Special guest speaker is Junior Smart, an ex-gang member and drug dealer who has turned his life around and is the founder of the SOS Gangs Project, run by the St Giles Trust, based in south London.

Four community representatives will be elected to the Safer Neighbourhood Board, which is responsible for giving residents a voice in setting policing priorities.

Those interested in running can get in touch through the link below.

The event will be held at Islington Assembly Hall and start at 10am.

To secure a place at the event you will need to register in advance. Places are on a first come, first served basis.
