Arsenal Football Club has suffered a bitter defeat at the hands of planning chiefs over plans to build a 25-storey tower block of student flats next to the Emirates Stadium.

A four-year battle with Islington Council appears to be lost after a government planning inspector this week rejected an appeal launched by the football club over the controversial development in Hornsey Road
