Abstract
The government’s proposed lowering of the benefit cap will plunge 1,000 Islington children into poverty as more than 800 already-hard-up families will lose £3,000 a year, council chiefs have warned.A study by Islington Council raises the alarm over the impact on Islington families already living on the breadline. It is launched just weeks before Chancellor George Osborne’s “emergency budget” in which he is expected to detail a range of welfare cuts.
