Young athletes celebra­ted the renovation of the Sobell Centre in Hornsey Road last week. It now boasts a larger gym, an all-new boxing ring and a sports hall. The project cost £1.2m, £425,000 of which was provided by Sport England, £150,000 by the London Marathon Charitable Trust and the remaining £625,000 by Islington Council.
