Abstract
Financial management at a Barnsbury primary school fell “well short” of the standards expected, after an audit identified a raft of concerns.
A probe carried out by Islington Council into the finances at Thornhill Primary School in December raised a range of concerns, including the purchase of alcohol using the school’s disbursement account, “excessive” use of the school debit card, as well as the collection of Nectar card reward points for the personal use of staff members.
