Abstract

Plans for an underground Mail Rail attraction are one step closer to reality thanks to two new grants. The British Postal Museum and Archive, in Finsbury, now has 95 per cent of the cash needed for the project, thanks to donations from the Association of Independent Museums Biffa Award and Viridor Credits. The Mail Rail ride, set to open in 2016 under the Royal Mail Mount Pleasant site, will reveal to the public the now disused, driverless, electric train network that used to ferry mail around the capital.
