Abstract
A Canonbury GP's surgery that was due to close has been saved after Islington politicians persuaded NHS chiefs to find new doctors to run it.
The Mitchison Road Surgery was expected to shut its doors in July after more than 20 years. Its three GPs have resigned, citing “pressures around the lease of premises, retention and recruitment of clinical staff, finances and workload”. But NHS England, which commissions primary care services, this week announced it will be looking for new GPs to run the surgery, which means that patients can continue to use the practice. The body will find locum doctors to operate from the surgery from the end of July until March next year, after which it hopes to announce the new provider.
