A 74-year-old who lives on a council estate is one of eight men charged over the multi-million pound Hatton Garden jewellery heist. John Collins, of Bletsoe Walk, Angel, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Thursday) along with seven others, aged between 48 and 76, all accused of conspiracy to burgle.Dean Curtis, 55, a security guard at Holborn Studios, opposite the Angel flats, watched as two police vans pulled up.“About 14 officers in boiler suits got out,” he said. “Me and a few colleagues were watching. We thought it was a drugs bust. They had a sledgehammer and were there about half an hour.”The eight accused have been remanded in custody to appear at Southwark Crown Court on June 4.Seventy-two of the 999 safe deposit boxes at Hatton Garden Safe Deposit were raided over the Easter weekend.
