Abstract
Standing on the North East corner of the Green and known variously as King's House, King's Place and Brook House, in the 16th century it was the home of Henry Percy, Earl of Northumberland. William Clarke of Hackney rebuilt the house 1758-59 as a private madhouse which it remained until demolition in 1940.
