Abstract
Rev Jabez Bunting (1779-1858), born in Manchester, preacher and Wesleyan Minister from 1799, in London from 1803 and at the headquarters of Wesleyan Methodists from 1833. Considered second founder of Methodism after John Wesley, consolidating it from a society into a church. Lived and died at 30 Myddelton Square 1833-58 where a plaque was unveiled to him in 1986 by Rev Hughes Smith, president of the Methodist Conference.
