Abstract

Louise Blundell (1910-95) with her book 'A North London Childhood' at Archway Library (published by Islington Libraries) which tells of her mother, a penniless widow working 'as manageress of a laundry in Archway Road. The wage was £1 a week.' Louise recalls later life in an orphanage alongside visits to shops and entertainment in the area.
