Abstract
Charles Robert Simpson, Mayor of Finsbury 1930-31, born 1881 in Yorkshire where he was a coal miner for 16 years before passing with distinction a Diploma in Economics and Political Science at Ruskin Working Men's College, Oxford. Warden of John Woolman Adult Educational Settlement, Labour Councillor for Finsbury 1925-31 and member of London County Council 1928-31, he campaigned for better housing and health.
