Abstract
Group of locals outside the ruins of the old stone conduit in the grounds of White Conduit House (from which it took its name) built over leaden pipe water supply to Charterhouse (bearing the date 1641 with the initials of Thomas Sutton, its founder). The building 'was taken down by stealth on night to make room for houses' soon after this and used to repair part of the New Road. Chimneys of brick (or tile) kilns in the distance.
