Abstract
Fowler House, the mansion of the lords of Barnsbury was pulled down in 1850. At the end of the garden was Queen Elizabeth's Lodge, so-called because she may have passed through, but with the arms of Sir Thomas Fowler posthumously dated 1655. This has a large additional building behind and the tower of St Mary's church is seen in the background. A man and his dog rest on the grass.
