Abstract
Charles Green Spencer (1837-1880) opened a balloon making factory C.G.Spencer & Sons in Ringcroft Street, Holloway, later moving to Highbury: Percival (1864-1913), Arthur (1866-1940), Stanley (1868-1906, Henry (1877-1937) & Herbert (1884-1949) who were all professional balloonists. Herbert, who is probably shown piloting an aeroplane here, was licensee of Highbury Barn Tavern for 13 years until his death.
